Frequently asked questions.

Below are frequently asked questions that we’ve answered to help you on your artwork creation journey.

Who are we and what do we specialize in? For over 19 years, Morie Fine Art has created elegant portraits for families all over the South. Portraits that elevate any room while creating memories that are shared for generations. Everything we do, we believe in creating a legacy that celebrates the love and connection families share through Fine Art Portraiture.

We create poignant, meaningful portraits that are not only beautiful but also archival. Using only the finest Museum-quality materials, we ensure your portraits are properly preserved, represented, and displayed seamlessly throughout your home.

How long does the experience last? We set aside 2 hours exclusively for your family (sometimes it doesn’t take that long). The first 20-25 minutes of your experience is the camera study. That is when our portrait artist works with your family to create the best portraits. Our artist has had over 20 years experience and knows exactly how to position you and your family to show off your best features.

The second part of your experience is the best part! You will have a private portrait viewing immediately following your session where you will order your custom artwork. Our art director will present you with the best options of your portraits and guide you through the selection process to choose the portraits of your family that you would love to have displayed in your home. We even have a playroom for the kids to go in while adults make the decisions!!

To aid in your selection, we will project your portraits. This will allow you to view your originals larger than life-size to see every detail. Then, once we have narrowed down the portraits to your favorites, they can be enlarged or reduced on the projection screen to almost any size. You will be able to see your portraits the way they will look when they are completed, in size options most appropriate for your home.

Do you offer digital files? Morie Fine Art is a Print Studio. The vision is not fully realized until it is in print form. Our desire is to create portraits with care so that they leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy and, in turn, are treasured and passed down through your family as heirlooms.

Do you offer online proofing? Online versions of images and printed proofs to take home are not available. Artwork decisions are made in the studio during your appointment. We will guide you on final decisions on image choices, sizes, quantities, finishing and framing.

Who should attend the selection appointment? All decision makers should be present. We want you to love your artwork and for your family to fully reap the benefits of this incredible experience. You will be making final decisions on the various aesthetic, logistical and financial aspects of creating your portraits.

What should we wear?  The dress code is cocktail attire/Sunday best. Dress as if you are going to a formal ball, wedding, or really nice restaurant. This is a one-of-a-kind formal portrait that is meant to celebrate your family. As you are making your selections, keep in mind that traditional styles have a more timeless look than the trendier fashions. Click HERE to see our Attire Guidelines.

What else do we need to do to prepare?

  • Have well manicured hands - Check for chipped and non-matching fingernail and toenail polish.

  • Hairstyle - Have hair cut or trimmed a week or more in advance. Don't try a new hairstyle or color, as it takes you time to get accustomed to a new look. Keep hair accessories classic and small so as to not draw attention away from the face.

  • Makeup - Apply normally, paying special attention to the eyes, as they are the most important part of the portrait. Avoid brilliant colors on your eyes, lips and cheeks. Natural/Simple makeup always appears best in portraits.

When should we arrive? Please arrive on time to your portrait appointment. We have a dressing room available if you would like to change upon arrival.  If you need to change in the studio, please arrive 15 minutes early.  Late arrivals will result in loss of photography time.

Are we allowed to take cell phone pictures during the session? Photos/Video are not permitted to be taken by clients during any part of the portrait session or presentation appointment.  We welcome you to take any photos you would like in our lobby.

Can we include our pets in the portrait? Absolutely!! We just need to know ahead of time to prepare.

Where should I hang my artwork?   Many clients enjoy hanging their art piece where it can be seen from the entrance of their home. Others choose to hang it in an area where they will see it most frequently. This can be the family or living room. Most commonly, clients select to hang their artwork in their foyer, dining room or above the fireplace in their living room.

We recommend that you come to the studio with images of your home. You will be able to make intelligent, informed choices with confidence.

Do you offer framing?  Nearly all of the wall artwork that leaves this studio is framed by us. With this you are ensuring the safe delivery of your artwork, that it is cohesive and correct for the type of artwork, and that it is of archival quality. We guarantee all of our artwork for life if it is framed with us.

Artistry and Modifications. All of our artwork is finished and beautiful upon delivery.  Occasionally a client may make a specific request.  When clients choose a 20” size portrait or larger, other modifications are possible. This may include filling-in of missing or crooked teeth, braces removal, "slenderizing" waists, removal of double chins, correction of clothing flaws, etc.

How long will it take to receive my artwork? As your artwork may require various degrees of retouching and painting, mounting and framing, delivery time can vary. We give our clients a time frame of 3-4 months for their artwork to be completed. Once it is ready, your artwork will be shipped directly to your home.

What is your cancellation/reschedule policy? We do not accept changes to your appointment via email or text. You must call the studio for any appointment changes. If you need to make any changes to this appointment, you must do so by calling 10 DAYS in advance of your scheduled session. Any no-shows or cancellations made after the 10 DAYS will forfeit the $200 reservation fee.

Because we block out our studio and staff (who sometimes come in from out of town) for two hours for every appointment, hence the need to collect a $200 reservation fee. This policy is to ensure that we are booking serious and committed clients only. The fee is fully refundable on the day of your session as long as you arrive for your appointment at the studio.
